<p>Is it ironic or by design that the two most popular roof rack manufactures &#8211; Yakima racks and thule racks &#8211; come from two very similar cities on opposite sides of the world? Sharing extremely northern coordinates, foul weather, manufacturer-based economies and a dense population of outdoorsy recreationalists, Beaverton, Oregon and Malmö, Sweden are vying for the prize of the roof rack capitol of the world.</p>
<p>At first glance, this grudge match seems a little lopsided. With over three-hundred thousand permanent residents, Malmö out sizes tiny Beaverton by nearly three people to one. Their manufacture infrastructure is steeped in the ancient arts of ship building and concrete production, and they boast a primeval city charter that dates back to the 13th century. With credentials like these, Malmö certainly has the goods to crank out all the roof racks, bike racks and cargo boxes the recreational market can sustain.</p>
<p>But, never count plucky little Beaverton, Oregon out. Located in the United States&#8217; Pacific northwest, the new worlds&#8217; final frontier, Beaverton&#8217;s population is made up of the descendants of frontiersmen, explorers, pioneers and on-the-lamb criminals seeking solace and a remote place to hide. Founded in 1893, Beaverton is barely a hundred years old, but its colorful history makes it one of Oregon&#8217;s most legendary cities. Home to Linux, the legendary open-source operating system (ironically written by a Swedish speaking Finn who relocated to Beaverton) and footwear giant Nike, Beaverton also has what it takes to satiate the world&#8217;s thirst for high-quality recreation gear in the form of roof racks and bike racks.</p>
<p>After much research and investigation, we conclude that the build quality and product offerings between Yakima and thule are quite similar. In fact, to muddle the issue even further, most of their accessories work with the others&#8217; gear! So basically, since we can&#8217;t decide between Yakima racks and Thule racks based on product offerings, all that&#8217;s left to do is decide which city, Malmö or Beaverton, you most identify with.</p>
<p>So what&#8217;s it gonna be? Brilliant Beaverton with its shoe factories, computer nerds, coffee achievers, and 4 seasons of rain, sleet and snow? Or, magnificent Malmö with its ship yards, post industrialists, glüg guzzlers, and 4 seasons of rain, sleet and snow? Well, this is one hot-button issue that is obviously too complex for this author&#8217;s expertise or this article&#8217;s depth, so the simple answer: the world and the outdoor recreational population may never know!</p></div>

<p>Like an adopted child that is now confirmed as a member of the family, the Chevrolet Optra sheds its three-section Daewoo grille, and gets a new chromed Chevrolet &#8216;face&#8217; to make it part of the family. It is to Pininfarina&#8217;s credit that the Chevy &#8216;bowtie&#8217; actually looked quite at home on the original Optra, and as it was only sold as a GM-Daewoo model in Korea and certain European markets, most of us were none the wiser of its Daewoo origins.</p>
<p>More importantly, as the launch model for the Chevrolet brand in Singapore two years ago, its handsome Italianate lines and solid build quality helped to ensure that the American brand gained a strong foothold in the market place. It is no coincidence that in every dimension, the Optra is almost identical to the Toyota Corolla Altis, the car to beat in this segment.</p>
<p>While the new grille helps to make it look more like a Chevrolet, it also cements GM&#8217;s commitment, not just to its Korean operations, but also to its Southeast Asian production plant based in Rayong, Thailand. Of the three Optra models sold here, the Station Wagon and Optra5 hatchback are built in Korea, but the sedan is made in Thailand. This explains why the Korean models received the new family grille before the sedan.</p>
<p>The Optra&#8217;s new front end is the most visible upgrade, but the gear ratios have been raised to make the Optra cruise quieter with better fuel efficiency. The E-TEC 1.6-litre engine remains unobtrusive, but loses out to the best Japanese engines for smoothness and refinement. It continues to be a well-built car, and the fit and finish show no signs of it being of Korean/Thai origins. In fact, there is a very European feel to the Optra, from the well-weighted powered steering to the German-style quality of the dashboard grain. The zig-zag transmission gate and the blend of wood and metal surfaces are also very European.</p>
<p>The Optra, as well as the rest of the Aveo range, is a rare success story for GM, and is being used by the American giant to gain a foothold in the major Asia Pacific markets. It is sold in China as the Buick Excelle and it has just been announced that Holden will be selling it as the Viva in Australia. GM has definitely gained from bailing out Daewoo from bankruptcy, a far cry from some of its less successful American ventures, such as the US$1 billion spent on the now defunct EV1 electric car programme, or the setting up of the Saturn factory in Tennessee, which continues to bleed the company nearly 20 years on.</p>
<p>With things looking grim for GM in Europe as well, perhaps it really is no surprise that the Optra has been given a new face, and is so warmly embraced by the GM family.</p></div>

<p>The influence of the Big Three is not only shrinking in the domestic market, but also declining as a force in the global economic landscape. The decline in sales and productivity may seem like a result of the US automotive industry lagging behind as businesses, but the problem has many complex factors. The industry itself is of course partly to blame, but there are many influences that have led to the current status of American car companies in comparison with foreign car companies.</p>
<p>First, the difference in car designs demonstrates the intricacy of the problems facing American car companies. In years past when the economy was thriving, design matched the needs of the consumer in the present, and sometimes the past. National trends in preferences were equally near-sighted, and car companies had no need to promote any other kind of car besides one Americans would spend more to buy. Foreign markets, however, created a more progressive demand, and the most noticeable force was, and still is, the consumption of gasoline. In European and Asian markets where gas is more expensive due to higher taxes, saving money began not at the car dealership but at the gas station. So, when deconstructed, the simple problem of design differences becomes a multi-faceted issue where car companies, consumers, and government are all responsible. The balance and influence of all three on one another in this country is especially important when the car companies were once large, dominant players in the domestic and global economies. So, the other factors that have led to the collapse of the Big Three are actually all part of the same problem. But, the progress of the Asian auto industry highlight the major problems slowing the progress of the American auto industry.</p>
<p>From a business standpoint, the difference in production between Asian and American companies demonstrates one area where the US industry lags behind. First, labor costs are one major issue that Japanese car companies have been able to control through union relations. American auto workers&#8217; unions have held influence over company executives, and as a result, union demands reduce profit margins starting right on the factory floor.</p>
<p>Car companies are also plagued by their corporate structure. Ford initially solved a problem of miscommunication and uncoordinated suppliers, but they created more problems down the road. Toyota avoided problems of inefficiency and bureaucracy by creating small, efficient entities for supply and manufacturing. The inflexibility of American car companies started from the suppliers upward, and higher costs were felt at every step in the manufacturing process. The philosophy of centralized control not only drove up costs but drove down innovation, leading to designs and ideas that were too slow to react to market changes.</p>
<p>Finally, government policies have slowed American innovation. Asian governments have used taxes and incentives to encourage their citizens, and the lack of these kinds of programs has led to a stagnant auto industry. In China, taxes on small, fuel-efficient cars have been cut in half, creating increased demand for small cars. As a result, manufacturers have been able to charge more for their product at a time when American car companies are slashing prices to encourage sales.</p>
<p>The American auto industry is lagging in the world market, and it is a product of its complicated past. However, since the blame is not only with the companies themselves, returning the US automotive industry to its global prominence will require an understanding of all of its influences, and a concerted effort by the industry, consumers, and the government alike.</p></div>

<p>The fight against fat loss is a difficult battle to say the least. There are many different avenues to travel in search of achieving your fat loss goals. There are some people who say to use machines because they are safer. Other people will tell you that pills and potions are the way to go.</p>
<p>The best way I have found from working with literally hundreds of women at my gym is utilising multi joint movements specifically bodyweight exercises.</p>
<p>Inherent in Bodyweight exercises is your own range of motion. Machines force your body to move along a set path with no accommodations to account for minor differences in range of motion between the machine and your body.</p>
<p>An important point to remember is bodyweight exercises are great tools for fat loss because they use many muscles of the body at one time. You&#8217;re literally turning your body into a fat burning, muscle building machine by adding bodyweight exercises into your workout routine. Not only are you burning fat during the workout but hours after as well.</p>
<p>Here are 3 fat burning muscle building exercises to burn body fat from problem areas.</p>
<p>1. Up &#8211; downs</p>
<p>This is a high intensity exercise guaranteed to burn fat. This exercise isn&#8217;t for beginners though.</p>
<p>Begin the exercise standing up with your feet shoulder width apart. Then drop down into</p>
<p>a push- up position(on the floor) by kicking your feet behind you and your hands out front of your body.. then quickly pop up again into the standing position again.</p>
<p>2. Lunges- This is a great lower body exercise with emphasis on hamstrings and your butt.</p>
<p>Start with your feet about hip width apart looking straight ahead, with your chest up. Its easier to think of this exercise in two parts. initiate the exercise by taking a step forward and now with the trailing leg lower it down toward the ground stopping 4 to 5 inches away from the ground. Ensure your upperbody doesn&#8217;t drift out over your front leg. Your goal is to have your upper body balanced and centered. Now return back to the starting position and repeat.</p>
<p>3. Push- ups- Excellent upper body exercise with emphasis on chest, shoulders, and triceps, but most people don&#8217;t realize what a great core exercise push- ups are as well.</p>
<p>Have your hands on the floor shoulder width apart this will increase your range of motion and decrease shoulder involvement. Your toes should be pressing into the ground. Now lower yourself towards the ground until your upper arm is parallel to the ground. Your elbows, as you bend your arm should be kept close to your body, this too will decrease shoulder involvement and place more emphasis on chest and triceps.</p>
<p>There you have it 3 great fat burning muscle building bodyweight exercises that will obliterate fat in problem areas.</p>
<p>Now get ready for a toned &#038; tight body.</p></div>

<p>As any aircraft is superseded, military conversions can significantly extend their useful lives.</p>
<p>A number of air forces acquired the Airbus A310 as VIP aircraft and troop and/or freight transports. The only one to buy a brand new aircraft was the Royal Thai Air Force, which took delivery of a VIP-configured A310-300 for use by the Royal Flight on 5 November 1991. The Canadian Forces boosted their strategic airlift capability with five ex-Wardair/Canadian Airlines International A310s in 1992/93. Redesignated CC-150 Polaris, the five aircraft were delivered in a 194-seat passenger configuration, but four were subsequently converted by Sogerma in Bordeaux to a passenger/cargo combi layout. This required some 100,000 engineering and production hours, which included a new main deck cargo door, fuselage and flooring reinforcement, a cargo loading system, and a removable bulkhead and smoke curtain to separate cargo and troops. The fifth aircraft remains in a VIP layout. All are operated by 437 Squadron at 8 Wing, Trenton, Ontario, and are used to re-supply Canadian Forces personnel across the world.</p>
<p>Germany&#8217;s Luftwaffe operates seven CF6-80C2A2-powered A310-300s and is seeking to acquire two more, to bolster its long-range fleet in the face of increasing logistics demands. The creation of a rapid reaction force, a rise in humanitarian operations, and the new tactical training unit in Mexico, are all making additional demands on its resources. Two A310s replaced two Boeing 707s at the end of 1999, and two of the existing A310s were modified to tanker transports in 2003. The Luftwaffe acquired its first three aircraft in May 1991 when the former East Germany carrier Interflug ceased operations, and further enlarged its fleet between November 1996 and November 1998 with four ex-Lufthansa machines. Five are operated in VIP configuration, and two as passenger/cargo combi aircraft.</p>
<p>Two A310-300s are flown by Transport Squadron 3/60 of the French Air Force (Armee de 1&#8242;Air) out of Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. Both have 180 minutes ETOPS (Extended Range Twin Operations) and are used primarily as VIP transports. The A310s were bought from Royal Jordanian in November 1993. The Belgian Air Force obtained two secondhand A310-200s from Singapore Airlines in September 1997 and April 1998, also for use as VIP transports. The Pratt &amp; Whitney-powered aircraft are operated by 21 Squadron on military and government transport duties, as well as international relief flights.</p>
<p>Multi-role aircraft conversions.</p>
<p>With the order book for the A310 diminishing and tailing off, Airbus Industrie is hoping that a more determined incursion into the military market will provide a lifeline for the A310. Recognising that reduced defence spending will demand future multi-role aircraft, which are capable of simultaneously carrying out air-to-air refuelling (AAR) and transport operations, Airbus is offering the A310 in MRTT (Multi-Role Tanker Transport) configuration. With the KC-135 in particular nearing the end of its useful life, the demand for replacement tankers will undoubtedly accelerate, and derivatives of</p>
<p>current	wide-body aircraft will offer a more cost-effective solution than building a dedicated aircraft from scratch. In addition to offering greater refuelling capacity than earlier airliners, the A310 would also have an advantage in operating costs and longer airframe life. At a price tag in the region of US $30m for a	modified second-hand machine, such an aircraft should prove attractive to potential customers. Australia, Canada and Germany are all believed to be in the market for such an aircraft. Studies have indicated a potential market for 100 military tanker/transport aircraft by 2010, of which half are expected to be MRTTs. A demonstrator was produced by the conversion of a former airline A310-300 (N816PA), which undertook compatibility trials with Royal Air Force aircraft in 1995. No orders had been placed by September 1999.</p>

<p>The new second 3D Mario game has been announced with Mario riding his famous dinosaur companion, Yoshi which is also featured in many other Wii games. Now you as Mario will go through many new levels, challenges and enemies, experiencing new game play which is much better than before! Are you ready for it?</p>
<p>Super Mario Galaxy 2 game publishers promises that the game will provide more than 90% of new levels with rest coming from the first series game but this time with different objectives which is really cool! Also new abilities, new skills also with Yoshi dinosaur.. The graphics has been improved as we can see on the game trailer which was also announced on E3 conference, levels like flying pirate ships, bee suits and much more!</p>
<p>Nintendo games are also know of multi player mode where you can play also in co-op mode with your friends or family members. The good news is that this type of game play mode will also be supported in the new Super Mario Galaxy game! You will be enjoying playing characters like Yoshi, Luigi and different colored Toads.</p>

On the average, when a motorcycle lender is looking to approve any motorcycle financing they have a much higher cut off in the credit score range than an auto lender. <p>So with that said an auto lender may approve a FICO credit score of 610 as not a high risk, but a motorcycle lender would most likely classify a FICO credit score of 610 as a high risk motorcycle loan and may not offer an approval on it.</p>
<p>There are two reasons for this:</p>
<p>1. Motorcycles are much harder to repossess in good condition than an automobile. As a result of this simple fact, if you default on your motorcycle loan it is a higher risk to the motorcycle lender than an automobile lender because it is much harder to repossess a motorcycle in good condition than a car.</p>
<p>With all the new motorcycle riders entering the industry there is a high incident of some form of minor or major damage on many motorcycles, which translates in to a lower amount per unit a lender gets when they repossess a motorcycle for a customer that chooses to get bad credit over paying for their motorcycle loan. The damage could be from the repossession agency or the actual owner but the simple fact is motorcycle fetch much less at repossession auctions than automobiles.</p>
<p>This simple fact is one reason good and poor credit motorcycle loans are offered at much higher interest rates than a car and has an overall lower approval percentages when compared with cars.</p>
<p>2. The average motorcycle tends to depreciate very fast. Since motorcycles have higher accident rates and there are many people who once they crash do not pay off their loan, this results in higher defaults for motorcycle lenders. This is another reason motorcycle loan rates are higher and motorcycles are hard to get approved for.</p>
<p>Ok, now that you have a background in how a motorcycle lender views a motorcycle loan, let&#8217;s look at how you can get approved for a high risk motorcycle loan.</p>
<p>Step one is to really understand your credit report and credit score. Sure if you are looking for high risk motorcycle financing, you probably have had some credit issues in the past. But you never know how those credit issues played out on your credit report until you get a copy of it.</p>
<p>Take a look and make sure everything reported on your credit report is actually true. See every year 1000s of people just like you find creditors made errors on their credit report, which negativity impacted their credit score. If your FICO score shows a 610, but there is 1 error on your credit report you could easily raise your FICO credit score to 625 or higher by getting the error fixed. Always get errors fixed on your credit report before you submit a high risk motorcycle loan application.</p>
<p>Step two is to clean up your credit card debt. I know you are probably thinking I can not do this, but it can make a huge difference in helping you get approved for high risk motorcycle financing. See motorcycle lenders do not like to see your personal credit cards maxed out. Therefore, before you submit your application for motorcycle financing you should try to pay down your credit card debt. Even if you have to do it for the short term it can help you tremendously with getting approved.</p>
<p>For instance, if you have a 610 FICO credit score you will probably be declined if you have all your credit cards maxed out. However, if you are able reduce your credit card debt by 50% you stand a much better chance of getting approved for a high risk motorcycle loan. This is a simple concept but you will be surprised by how many motorcycle buyers fail to do this and never get approved.</p>
<p>Step three and the final step is too finally submit your motorcycle loan application. There are many lenders that specialize in high risk motorcycle loans. I recommend tying about 2 or 3 online motorcycle lenders and then move to your local credit unions or financing provide by the dealership such as Suzuki Finance, Honda Financing, Kawasaki Credit Card or the Polaris Star Card.</p></div>

<p>Nanotechnology revenues are estimated to reach $1 Trillion worldwide by 2015. It is often considered as a new revolution, as was the industrial revolution, because nanotechnology manipulates matter at the atomic scale to create new applications in materials, medicine, robotics, electronics and energy.</p>
<p>But what really is Nanotechnology? It&#8217;s a field of applied science and technology which gives us the ability to build up things starting from the scale of an individual atom. This means the ability to manipulate materials so tiny that nothing can be built any smaller. Twenty year ago you could not have imagined the entire Encyclopedia being stored in a single memory stick, and today, can you imagine the same stored in a chip the size of a dust particle? When you divide one metre by one billion you get one nano. If you split bacteria into 200 equal parts, then one part equals one nanometre. This is the atom scale of the nanotechnology. When things are built at such a scale you get precision, strength, unique colours and a feel of creation rather than built. The idea was started in 1959 by a physicist Richard Feynman at American Physical Society meeting at Caltech.</p>
<p>There is still a long way to go to handle materials on a nano scale. Many scientists believe that within the next twenty year we will achieve a lot in this field. During that time we will have to establish techniques to move single atoms using nano robots machines operating at nanoscale and build large-scale structures. Like the invention of the wheel, there will be nano gears, bearings, motors, nano compiler, and nano multipliers and so on and so forth. About twenty years ago, IBM were able to position 35 xenon atoms on the surface of a nickel crystal using atomic force microscopy instrument which spelled out the word IBM. Since then, modern use has been in the manufacture of polymers based on molecular structure and design of surface science computer chip layouts. Commercially, nanotechnology is being applied in bulk nano-particles in manufacture of stain resistant clothing, protective coatings, suntan lotions, disinfectants, fuel catalysts and cosmetics.</p>
<p>As we stand now, nanotechnology is the new frontier and its potential impact is compelling. Huge amounts of funding are being spent by governments towards nanotechnology research and development. Like before, the main beneficially of such funding is Defence. New nanotech weapons and lightweight bullet-proof nanotech clothing are soon coming up. Once through with military superiority, then it will be released proper to the private sector. Here, there will be better uses that will include provision of clean water, greater agricultural production, cheap energy, clean environment, better diagnostics, drugs and organs replacements, greater information processing and storage, and reduced labour. When that time comes, you will be able to replace your car with an inexpensive nanotech car. A nanotech car will look like a creation of God or that has come from outer space.</p>
<p>With all the sweet promises that Nanotechnology has, including the potential to have positive effects on the environment, environmental and health risks will be the biggest challenges. These nana particles have very great surface area to volume ratio, and therefore toxic due to their high chemical reactivity and biological activity &#8212; they can easily penetrate human skins and get entry to organs and tissues such as the kidneys, brain, spleen, heart, liver, and nervous system. And that coupled with the fact that these nanomaterials has a huge potential to cause DNA mutation, then, it is just a matter of time before opposing groups find the right opportunity to strike in saying no to the entire nanotechnology. And to the shrewd businessman and woman, you can only gamble in being ahead of everyone else in opportunities that are promising heaven.</p></div>
